Short term goals:
-Send out resume by next week
-Follow up with internship sites
-Do well in Chef Adrian’s class
Long term goals
-Inquiry an internship site at an established bakery, one that will push me as a baker and help me hone my skills
-Gather information and paperwork on the World Wide Organization of Organic Farms (WOOF) program and begin searching sites/countries where I might be interested in WOOF-ing
-Gain confidence as a baker and as an individual
How do your short term goals create a foundation for accomplishing your long term goals?
My short term goals create a foundation, because without achieving these goals first I will not inquire an internship, especially not one at an established bakery. I think it is important to follow up with sites because it shows them you are serious and interested and you are not willing to give up, a lot of places like to see that you are an advocate for yourself. Doing well in Chef Adrian's class is important to me because I know decorating cakes is not a strong suite of mine and it is the area of this field I am least confident in.
What functional area(s) and levels of responsibility do you aspire?
Some day in the future I would like to own a bakery. Until then I want to gain as much experience in this industry and I will do this by traveling and working with master bakers.
In what facets of the industry and/or companies are you interested in working?
My passion in this field is artisan bread; I am most interested in working in artisanal bakeries, ones that focus on breads and rustic pastries. Although this is my passion, I am also capable of working on classic pastries and can produce a good product.
